92% of all new sold cars in Brazil use ethanol as fuel, which is produced from sugar cane.
By the mid-1980s, 96% of all new cars in that country were using ethanol. Consumption of the fuel dropped significantly after the end of the 1980s but it recovered in a big way beginning in 2004.
