In fact, the National Academies of Science’s Institute of Medicine conducted a study in 2006 that shows doctors’ sloppy handwriting killed more than 7,000 people a year. To cut down on those errors, Medicare is mandating that all hospitals switch over to electronics so you can read it on a computer screen which will be much clearer.
